Mt. Shasta welcomes the Gilden Lodge

It was our dream to build a log cabin in the mountains that could be a place of ultimate retreat from the stress and clamor of everyday life – a place of peace and tranquility, where you could unwind and get back to nature. We found the perfect piece of land just outside the town of Mount Shasta that had amazing views of the mountains in all directions, and then we spent 5 years building the cabin ourselves- and now we believe that we have accomplished our dream with the creation of Gilden Lodge.
We designed every detail in the cabin ourselves, from the fireplace to the stained glass windows. The logs we chose are hand peeled Douglas Fir – we wanted to create a totally hand crafted home that is both unique and individualistic. We scoured reclamation yards, and salvage shops to find interesting and unusual items to use in the lodge. We tried to use old materials wherever possible to create a house that is both eclectic and environmentally friendly. The guests who have stayed with us so far seem to have had a fun and relaxing time, and have been generous in their praise of the cabin.
