Put some magic in your holiday, shop downtown Mt. Shasta!
Christmas is the season of giving. However, it is not suppose to be stressful!
The Siskiyou Arts Council, Gallery & Cultural Center, Sacred Mountain Spa, Sereni-tea, The Gallery in Mount Shasta, the Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center, Alpine Business Equipment, and the Mount Shasta Chamber of Commerce have come together to make the experience enjoyable. Every Wednesday until Christmas the downtown merchants will stay open until 7pm for the pure shopping pleasure of discovering the perfect gift for our loved one.
On December 9 we can all be kids. Let’s meet the Weed Dog Sled Team in the afternoon and bring a camera for photo opportunities! Play Onionhead games at the Gallery from 4 to 6pm. Get the kids a professional “Portrait with Santa”. Enjoy storytelling at 6:30pm at Village Books. Follow the carolers making their way through town. Bring the entire family, each member will find something to do.
From 5:30pm until 7pm, the Sacred Mountain Spa will provide a photo studio for “Portraits with Santa” by professional photographer Sequoia, offered at $30 (a $50 value), includes (4) wallet size, (2) 4×6 and (1) 5×7 prints. Portraits will be available for pick up a week later.
But the season of giving would not be complete without helping the less fortunate. These businesses will be collecting non-perishable shelf stable food items to be donated to “Meals on Wheels”, St. Vincent de Paul’s food bank and the Elks’ food baskets: Alpine Business, Mt. Shasta Herb & Health, The Fifth Season, Anika Burkes Eclectic Boutique, Directions, Village Books, Sportsmens Den, Sacred Mountain Spa, Siskiyou Arts Council, Shasta Base Camp, Snip’N Save, Images Home of Mountain Essentials, Travel Quest, My Favorite Things, Sereni-tea, Soul Connections, Book Nook, Geppettos, Mary Jo’s Headrig, Monte Bella Boutique, Kevin Lahey Photography and Suzies.
“Giving Tree” for children in need will be housed from December 8 to December 17 at Alpine Business Equipment, Tri-Counties Bank, Village Books, The Gallery in Mount Shasta and PremierWest Bank. Sponsored by the Mount Shasta Community Resource Center.
More magic to come in the next few weeks: raffles, window decoration contest , a snowman building contest for kids and the young at heart and much more.
