Better than ever: July 4th in Mt Shasta!
Mt. Shasta’s largest annual event will begin in downtown Mt. Shasta on Friday, July 2nd and Saturday, July 3rd with vendors and sidewalk sales from 10 am to 7 pm on both days. Rock, blues, bluegrass, jazz, and folk music will be performed live by accomplished local musicians and bands, fantastic circus acts will keep you entertained between musical acts.
Sunday, July 4th will start off with the Mountain Runners Fun Run/walk, the largest small town run/walk in America, at 8:30 am — register and have a good time competing in the running portion, or walking the two miles tasting food offered by local restaurants along the way and be entertained by the Mt. Shasta Walking Circus, a group of professional stilt walkers, acrobats, contortionists, hula hoopers, unicyclists, musicians, clowns, belly dancers, costumed characters, mimes, and more.
Registered walk/run participants have a chance to win the grand prize, a Certified 2008 Dodge Caliber, 4 cylinder, automatic transmission with sun roof, hatchback, CD player and radio sponsored by Mt Shasta’s S.J. Denham and Mountain Runners.
At noon the parade will be on its way. This year’s open theme is all about having a good time. Come and enjoy great floats and drill teams.
Later that day everyone enjoy yourself at the Mt. Shasta Resort for their traditional “Customer Appreciation Day” — listen to great live music and get your favorite seat for the community’s largest fireworks show yet! Fireworks can also be viewed from the Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort beach. Summer Schappell will perform at the Resort. There will also be circus performances at the Resort and Campgrounds, with a spectacular fire performance following the fireworks on the beach at Lake Siskiyou.
